I came all the way from the states and waited 13 years to try the Constantine Tajine at Azou and it did not disappoint. The lamb was fall off the bone tender, the potatoes were perfectly cooked, and the sauce had such a captivating flavor. The chef personally took my order and recommended the galette bread which really added to the meal. The food was prepared very quickly, and the experience was very intimate. The decor, plating and music had a very cozy North African ambiance to it and Chef Benarab is really passionate, talented and one of the nicest people I've interacted with in London. Highlight of my trip, will definitely be back!

We’ve visited Azou a few times over the years when we’ve been in London and it’s been amazing every time. The food is very authentic, and is as good if not better than the best we’ve tried while actually in Morocco (and there are some truly excellent places to eat there!). We find it very reasonably priced as well, especially considering the quality and generous portions. Good Moroccan wines and Casablanca beer are also available which adds to the authenticity. Our favourite dish is the Constantine Tagine (fall-off-the-bone lamb in a delicious slightly spicy gravy) which the restaurant is famous for, but all the dishes we’ve tried have been very good. The service is also great, Chris is really helpful and likes to engage with his guests, and our waitress Viktorija was also lovely. All in all first class food in a nice atmosphere which we’d highly recommend!![]()

Highly recommended! The food is very nice and tasty. The place is very nice and seems very traditional to the North Africa culture. Food is tasty and delicious and they serve generous portions. The prices are fair and the service in general was great!! Recommendation before you go, if possible book a table online or by telephone as it is a small place so it could get fully book considering as well the openings closing times. They will respond your email or call in a good time frame. Many thanks Azou for your hospitality.![]()

This amazing restaurant is still amazing after my last visit over 10 years ago. Always a warm welcome from the staff and the food is incredible. With the authentic North African decor you are transported to Algeria where Chris the chef is from. We had a fish tagine and also king prawn with rice, both dishes were expertly spiced, came piping hot and packed with flavour. Our waiter was exceptionally knowledgeable about everything and looked after us well. We were also fortunate to have a long chat with chef Chris who is a great character. I can't wait to go back to try another dish!![]()

I just had a picture pop up on my phone from when I was living in London, this day in 2019, and went to Azou for Dinner with my partner. It prompted me to do a google search and see if it was still open. It was a quiet evening at the restaraunt and the owner spent a lot of time and effort ensuring we were looked after and explaining all the dishes to us. It was some of the best food I had ever eaten! Pleased that this place is still going strong and will 100% return if I am ever in London again

One can’t never be disappointed by this restaurant. It has great atmosphere, wonderful cuisines, very helpful and friendly crew and reasonable price. We started with appetizers including falafels/salad plate, calamari fries and the baba ganoush. The texture of baba ganoush was so good with the flat pitta. We ordered a king prawn tajine and a lamb couscous as our main dishes. The chewy king prawns were very fresh and well-seasoned. You could even taste the sea in your mouth! The lamb was also cooked well with a tender texture and wonderful flavor. It was also served with a broth. Loved the two mains! Dessert was a bit too sweet for me but all of my friends loved it. Classic mint tea was a great choice in the cold weather. Will definitely visit again.![]()

The Azou is a North-African restaurant with a full menu including a range of tagine dishes: chicken to lamb, seafood, and vegetarian choices. The waiter was very knowledgeable and helped us select the side dishes. I chose the traditional lamb with prunes, apricots, almonds, and walnuts. The sweetness of the sauce perfectly complemented the tender piece of lamb. There is a wide range of desserts: Baked nut cake, lemon sorbet, vanilla ice cream, and authentic coffee variations. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. We highly recommend it.![]()

North African cuisine so good your mother in-law will love it and so will your wedding guests! I accidently discovered this little gem while on a stroll in Chiswick in 2006 and the food, amazing staff and the wonderful cheeky chap that runs the place,Chris, have always made it a worthwhile evening. As a Native North African, it was always hard to find restaurant food that comes close to home cooked cuisine from back home; Azou with it's cozy ambiance serves up dishes with the love of a homecooked meal coupled with the refined delicate flavours of a Michelin star restaurant. I have always enjoyed every meal at Azou, I even took my Mrs on a date there and she liked it so much she took her mom (a North African lady who refuses to eat anything from outside) and she loved it so much we ended up having our wedding dinner here. The food was great (as always) but beyond feeding the hungry guests, we want to thank Chris and his team for helping create one of our most cherished memories. We will be back as always.![]()

We were here for a friend's party. It is a tiny hidden gem with brilliant food and service! I haven't eaten so much food in the longest time. Their portion size is fine but the contents are quite filling. We had a party menu and I chose these: Nibbles - Hummus + pita bread Starters - Briouat (pastry with a filling of brie and goat's cheese) Calamari Mains - Tajine zitoune (chicken breast in lemon sauce) and a side of cous cous Dessert - Baklava Tend to nibble a lot on the pita bread, which fills up tummy space reserved for other food. Fantastic food, served piping hot and on gorgeous earthenware. Only disappointment would have to be the baklava. Staff is cheerful and extremely friendly. We had a good banter with them. Small, very cozy restaurant with appropriate lighting and decor. Can get slightly squishy if you are in a big group. More a place for smaller groups of 4-5 people.![]()

One of my all time favourite restaurants in London. Tiny, cozy, and full of flavour, this place is somewhere I try and visit every time in town. BEST hummus I've ever had. Seriously I have daydreams about this hummus and it's awful because I have to fly to London to get it. Other high lights of the menu for me are the falafel and tagine romanne-- on the sweet side, full of pomegranate and roasted almonds. YUM I die. Please do your taste buds a favour and VISIT. Also noticed someone said this place was over priced-- ITS NOT.

I am a bit hesitating about giving it 4 or 5*. I know its reputation, so maybe I should go for the easy 5. Mr Yelp, where is the 4.5*? This is a quite tiny restaurant with no more than 10 tables. The decoration is really nice and authentic, but I do not get why they use carpets as tablecloths. I was thinking maybe the Europeans use this kind of cloths for the floor, but my Tunisian boyfriend confirmed they use them the same way we do. Weird. I wonder how they wash them... Anyway, nice arabic chandeliers, cosy round metal tables if you are having a date and being not a big restauant gives it a nice atmosphere. I would recommend it for max 6 people group and romantic dates. The arabic music is really nice, but they should place the speakers in a way where everytime they open the bar door the clients don't get cut in their conversation. Way too loud. Going to the food. I can say is really-really good, my only problem were the starters, a bit tiny if you are not ordering a tajine. I ordered one, so I felt really full at the end, but if you order some fish as one of my friends did, you might need extra food. Luckily, I ordered a Tajine el ain and I was completely full before finishing my dish. All my friends tried mine and they agreed it was amazing. The lamb was absolutely superb, tenre and falling from the bone. But why none told me there was not cous-cous on it? Why not offering me to order it? The con for this restaurant is the price. Some of the starters are overpriced and a tajine goes from 12 to 17£. If they drop two-three pounds from the main dishes I bet booking a table would be impossible. You can also smoke sisha outside during the evening.![]()

Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

I am so surprised that I haven't reviewed this place. I went to Azou in August. I probably had one of the best meals of my life here. I saw Azou on the 2009 tv show, Gordon Ramsay's Best Restaurant in the UK. I booked my reservation about 5 months in advance because I was so anxious to check this place out. When I arrived, I gave my name and the owner, said to me, you have been waiting to come here for awhile. I told him I had really been waiting since 09. The menu is a unique mix, and I ordered a Shakshuka, with merguez sausage. It was amazing. And the perfect start to my meal. My main was the Tagine Romanne. A chicken tagine with a sweet and sour sauce, with raisins, almonds and pomegranates, sprinkled with icing sugar. It sounds odd but it works with a side cous cous, which I had never had before. At the end of my meal, the chef/owner Chris asked if I wanted anything else. I said no I was stuffed. He came back a couple of minutes later with a small apple and a knife. The chef told me it was from the tree in his garden. Thank You Chef Chris and staff for a wonderful first meal in London.Posted on Opentable![]()

Good service food good but vegetarian option was sub standard and cold. Probably because it was taken out first.Posted on Yelp![]()

Victoria was an exceptionally gracious server and hostess, and provided excellent, timely service. We started with an order of hummus and pita, which had a heavenly texture and taste. We ran out of pita before we finished the hummus, and the owner generously brought us a freshly baked basket - without us ever asking. After the hummus and pita we split the chicken couscous. The dish was a medley of delicious flavors in perfect balance, and the chicken and vegetables were fall-apart, melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Unfortunately we had had a late lunch, and so did not have the appetite to explore more of the menu, but everything looked fantastic. We had a wonderful chat with the owner after our meal, and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The ambience is fantastic, the decor stunning and beautiful - all around a tremendous experience.Posted on Yelp![]()

Stopped here on easy home from Kew gardens. Everything was good. Service was attentive, had the lamb tagine with prunes, apricots, almonds. It was excellent. Also the fish tagine. Dessert was baklava and affogato, both very good.Posted on Yelp![]()

The Finest Moroccan Food in London. After seeing this restaurant win against the famous Momos on Gordon Ramseys TV show we had to try it out. It really lives up to high expectations we had. The best compliment i can give is I took one bite of the Constantine Tagine and linvolantarily said "wow". Undoubtedly the best Moroccan restaurant in London. I have return several times with lots of friends and they all agreed. Dont hesitate, just go.Posted on Yelp![]()

Azou offers fantastic, if somewhat overpriced Moroccan food in a cosy, warm interior. It was also an unexpected discovery on our part - we had no idea that Mr Ramsey had christened it his favourite Moroccan restaurant in north London for 2010. Thankfully the food continues to make good claim on that title. My girlfriend's lamb tagine was beautifully cooked, practically falling off the bone. My chicken tagine was decent but not as good. Still, it was noticeably better than either of us had had in Morocco itself. Another plus is the interior: all cushions, low-lighting, a mix of Moroccan blue and reds on the walls and fabric partially hanging from the ceiling to convey a sufficiently convincing escapist feel to it. The downsides were the prices and what I felt was slightly pushy service. Our tagines were approx £14 each, with couscous another £3.50. That's poor value compared to this restaurant's competitors. Further, our waiter, though attentive, often seemed to be pushing us to 'super-size' our selections, which I wasn't happy with. Part of me wonders whether 3 stars would be appropriate, but the quality just about tilts it over to 4 stars.Posted on Yelp![]()

Great little gem Food is reasonably priced, the staff fairly attentive, and the food was great. The Lamb tagine was delicious and the meat fell off the bone. The sauce was really good too, although the soft drink glasses are a little bit on the small side. The restaurant isnt big, but cozy. The toilets were clean too. I would definatly return another time to try out more of the menu.Posted on Yelp![]()

amazing. not to everyones taste but absolutely fantastic food and atmosphere my only negative is that in morocco it is rare to find alcohol being served with authentic Moroccon food .. it should stick to its traditions if it is to obtain a reputation of moroccon authenticityPosted on Yelp![]()

My husband and I travelled a long way to eat at Azou after having seen it on the best restaurant show. We were not disappointed! We tried three starters - the baba ganoush, the hot salad (chakcouka?) and the falafels - all were excellent and the accompanying pita bread was fresh warm and delicious. My husband remarked that it was the first time in a long time that the starters left him wanting more of the same! For mains we had the the Tagine Romanne and the Tagine Marrakesch. WOW. Delicious. The only thing I would have liked would have been to see some vegetables in the Romanne, but perhaps that is not the authentic way yo do it? Regardless, it was a perfect blend of sweet and sour. For dessert we had the baklava and it was the best I have ever had - not sickly sweet like one so often gets - perfection in a mouthful. We will definitely go back again and again. PS. If you go, try the Morrocan lager - it was halfway to an ale and very delicious as well.Posted on Yelp![]()

Now is the time to visit Azou. Soon it will rightly be swamped by diners. It'll have its moment of fame deserved after the lovely staff have worked so hard to bring their passion for Tagines and Cous Cous to West London. You've been warned - you have until October before Azou is crowned the best local Moroccan restaurant in the UK by a very famous chef and his much watched TV program. Azou are honourable enough not to tell everyone themselves until it's unveiled, but I saw them filming the visit of the foul-mouthed chef myself. He loved their food - and my friends and I did too. It's a comfortable small Moroccan restaurant with a small but magical menu. By far the stand-out are the tagines - cooked for a minimum of four hours - flavoured to perfection. The lamb or chicken will fall off the bone, and ingredients like paprika, apricot and pomegranate will pleasure your tastebuds. Forget almost everything else on the menu. The tagines are amazing, as good as the price and the lovely staff.Posted on Yelp![]()

I can't remember what we paid but it would have been no more than £15 each (we wouldn't have paid more), I had Lamb Couscous and my husband had Lamb Tagine with a side of Couscous, both were excellent and service was great, mine could have done with a little bit more flavour but this is not a complaint as I chose it. My husband can recommend the Casablanca beer.Posted on Yelp![]()
